It is time to Dream Big for 2021. The year 2020 has been difficult and challenging for lots of people across the world. We haven’t been able to spend as much time as we usually do seeing our friends and family. Lots of people have got very ill and sadly some have died. Many people have lost their jobs. We’ve also been to school less and not travelled as much.
It’s really important for our wellbeing to have things to look forward to and work towards. 2021 will hopefully be the start of building back a more equal, cooperative and better future.
What to do
Get all your craft materials together. You can use pens, pencils and paper for a more simple dream. But you may want to use more materials if you have them to hand to do something more elaborate. You could make a collage, a painting, a sculpture…
Start by making a mind map of all the things you are looking forward to in 2021. These can be things you know are going to happen – like having a birthday, seeing someone special or doing something exciting. Or maybe they are things that you hope will happen to you in 2021 – for example, making new friends, going somewhere new or trying a new food. You may also choose to make some predictions or wishes that go beyond you and your family – what are your hopes for your community, your country, the world?
Take your most exciting ideas from your mind map and expand on them to make a poster. You could split your poster into twelve and draw pictures of what you hope will happen in each month of 2021. Or you could choose your favourite bits, or the change you think will have the biggest impact on your or other people’s lives, to put into words and pictures.
Now put your poster on display in your home to remind you of everything that you are looking forward to.
Take it Further
